Lekenik

The tourist attractions of the Municipality of Lekenik include the natural beauty throughout all four seasons, opportunities for hunting, fishing, and swimming, unique wooden architecture, rich folk traditions, and a diverse winemaking and gastronomic offer.

The rich folk traditions have been preserved from oblivion primarily thanks to the efforts of six cultural and artistic associations that nurture the authentic songs, dances, and customs of this region. They participate in numerous folklore festivals both in Croatia and abroad, with some also organizing their own events.

Throughout the year, you can enjoy various folk events such as:
Smotra izvornog folklora Pokuplja, Posavine i Turopolja in Letovanić during St. George’s Day (Jurjevo), Lekenički folklorni susreti and Lekeničke jeseni in Lekenik during autumn, Ivanje in Vukojevac celebrating St. John’s Day, Ime Marijino in Pešćenica honoring the Feast of the Name of Mary

Bogatstvo narodnih običaja od zaborava je sačuvano od zaborava prije svega zbog aktivnih šest kulturno-umjetničkih društava koji njeguju izvorne pjesme, plesove i običaje našega kraja

The cultural heritage is also well-preserved in Letovanić, where the Škofač Ethno Collection – protected by the Ministry of Culture – showcases the traditional way of life across three wooden granaries (čardaks). In addition to Božidar Škofač’s granaries, about ten more in the area have been designated as cultural heritage due to their preserved folk architecture.
