Trails once traveled only by wild animals and warriors are now explored by an increasing number of tourists. The legendary figure of the wanderer with a bundle, once leaving out of necessity or arriving to explore the hidden corners, landscapes, and silences of this region, is today equipped with cameras, camcorders, guides, and internet technology—yet equally awed and amazed by the unfamiliar surroundings.
Sisak-Moslavina County is a magical region, if only because it is still home to people who remember the time when darkness fell with the sunset and who still recall the scent of wood burning in a stove.

04

Sisak-Moslavina County is a place that sparks the imagination—playful, mysterious, and rich in experiences, with the oldest shades of yellow on house facades and soil that still seems to sway with the remnants of the great Pannonian Sea. Even if you visit this region only briefly, you will witness a world that may seem ordinary, yet is profoundly moving.
It is hard to find a more beautiful place in Europe to escape from everything. The imprint of a footprint is an ancient custom marking the place where a person once stood.

It is one of the best-preserved natural floodplains in Europe and, thanks to periodic flooding, represents a unique treasure trove of biological and landscape diversity, not only in Croatia but also throughout Europe. In addition to its rich plant and animal life, Lonjsko Polje is the largest spawning ground for river fish in the entire Danube basin.

If you wish to explore its beauty and landmarks by bike, you have almost 1,100 kilometers of cycling trails at your disposal. As you pedal through the region, you can discover the hidden corners of Moslavina, Posavina, Pounje, Slavonia, Pokuplje, Turopolje, Banovina, and Kordun.

Hiking in Sisak-Moslavina County is an excellent form of recreation—an ideal way to recharge, breathe in fresh air, stretch your legs, enjoy scenic views, socialize, and relax. The trails are enjoyable even if you’re not in peak physical condition. If you’re new to hiking, the trails on Hrastovačka Gora, Petrova Gora, and Moslavačka Gora are perfect for beginners, offering a great introduction to the beauty of the region’s natural landscapes.

Topusko is a town located 70 kilometers south of Zagreb, near the middle course of the Glina River.  The parks blend with the urban, historical, and balneological essence of Topusko, much like the thermal water and peloid that have defined both the town itself and its spa in all dimensions.
More than 3,000 years ago, the ancient Illyrians settled in the area of Topusko and discovered its invaluable natural thermal springs.
