Tourist Board of the City of Petrinja

The City of Petrinja is located on the right bank of the Kupa River, at the confluence of the Petrinjčica River. The city area is an integral part of the Sisak-Moslavina County and covers an area of 380.94 km².

Petrinja takes pride in its long tradition of cultural creativity, built over centuries and documented in numerous publications by local historians and on the canvases of visual artists. The name Petrinja probably derives from the Latin word petrus, meaning rock, stone, or cliff, and may be related to one of the ancient Roman settlements in the stone-rich areas of Zrinska Gora.
