Description
The Petrinja Promenade offers tourist attractions, cultural and historical landmarks, and the opportunity to visit local caterers, family farms (OPGs), artisans, and artists. Follow the yellow linden leaf markings, the visual symbol of Petrinja, starting from the Volunteers’ Bridge over the Petrinjčica River on Gupčeva Street.
The trail runs upstream along the embankment beside the Petrinjčica River, along the Josip Kajetan Knežić Promenade, passing by urban villas and the restored Art Nouveau building of the city power plant. Further on, the trail leads to the Petrinja Cemetery, the Homeland War Memorial, and a viewpoint offering a view of the wooded hills.
After a steep descent, the promenade continues towards the City Bathing Area along the Kupa River, a popular gathering spot for locals and visitors during the summer months, where numerous events such as the Fish Stew Festival (Fišijada) and Cycling Tour (Biciklijada) are held.
The trail ends at Strossmayer Promenade, a protected architectural park featuring the Church of St. Lawrence, as well as a fountain and a music pavilion for a relaxing break.
